Department of Pathology
Pathology lab comprising of Histopathology, Cytology, Hematology and Clinical Pathology and Blood bank are situated in Basic Sciences block of Asian institute of Gastroenterology Pvt Ltd., . Labs are designed based on Global norms pertaining to safety, infrastructure, environment, back ups, waste management etc.,.
Labs are equipped with high end infrastructure to handle the samples effectively and efficiently to deliver quality ensured rapid results. Round the Clock diagnostic services are available for hematology, clinical pathology and Blood Bank.
A total of 250 blood samples from OPD and Inpatients are processed everyday. In addition to routine blood tests facilities for special investigations like Osmotic fragility, Coombs, Sickle test, Bone Marrow aspiration & Biopsies are available.
A total of 7200 biopsies per year & 2000 FNAC samples are received in Histology & Cytology respectively in addition facility for frozen. Tissue analysis and wide Immunohistochemistry panel of markers for all Gastrointestinal related lesions are available. Histochemical stain like PAS, Alcian Blue, Giemsa , Masson's trichome , Reticulin, Perls etc., are available to complement routine H&E stains of sections to ensure greater accuracy.

Department of Pathology is headed by Dr Anuradha Sekaran (MD, DNB, MNAMS), who is trained in Gastro Intestinal Pathology & Cytology at Wisconsin Medical College (USA) & North Chesire Hospital (U K).
Pathology team compressor of 2 other qualified pathologist, total of 8 technician in Hematology & Clinical Pathology, 4 trained technicians in Histopathology and 8 well trained Phlebotomists.
The laboratory is registered under external quality control programme conducted by Beckmen & Coulter for Hematology to ensure higher efficiency.
